SugaThe whole thing looks "real".
MatsudaThe size feels just right when you hold it in your hand.
SugaAbove all, I'm happy to hear our lines coming from this belt. It's quite exciting.
MatsudaWhen you wear the belt, you can hear the sound coming from your stomach.
SugaI've recorded a lot of lines, but it's not just the usual ones. Shinji and Ren's lines that follow the development of the story will come out of the belt in order. I think this is amazing.
MatsudaI just recorded a line that left a strong impression on me. In episode 21, he said, "I've changed my mind. I'll defeat Ryuki myself. So don't try anything dirty. And one more thing. I've decided to defeat you before him." This was what he said to Asakura (Kamen Rider Ohja). The second was when he pointed to Shinji in episode 14 and said, "He's an idiot, but he might be a better person than you or me." This line also really stuck in my mind. Ren and Shinji are riders who should be enemies, but as they work together, Ren protects Shinji. These words were the catalyst for the change in their relationship. The third one is from The Movie "EPISODE FINAL" that was released in the summer. He said to Yui, "Yui, you're right, Kanzaki Shiro may be deceiving us. But I'm going to fight. There's no other way. Even if there's only a 1% chance, I believe in my promise to Kanzaki." As for The Movie, even though the TV broadcast was still in progress, we were filming the "final episode" of "Ryuki," so we were extremely excited and had a lot of feelings about it.
SugaFirst of all, in episode 1, when Ryuki appears in his blank body, his only weapon, his sword, breaks and he says, "It's broken! Thwack!" in surprise. When I saw the action and acting of Ryuki, played by suit actor Takaiwa (Seiji), for the first time during the dubbing, I thought, "Ah, this is the character setting," and I thought it was a cut that clearly expressed it. Next is episode 4. When Ren asks Shinji why he is fighting, he says, "Debt! I owe you 30,000 yen. I won't die until I pay it back, probably... So what do you think?" It's interesting that he asks Ren, "How is it?" I thought that this line really shows the relationship between Ren and Shinji, as I was recording it just now. Finally, I would like to mention the line from The Movie "Don't die, Ren."
MatsudaI definitely remember Shinji shouting, "It's broken!"
SugaShinji was a complete amateur who just happened to become a rider. That character was really emphasized, and it made a lasting impression on me. Ren was in charge of the cool, heroic role.
MatsudaI thought my voice was kind of high-pitched.
SugaI understand. I felt like I was impersonating my character at the time.
MatsudaThat's exactly right.
SugaI guess the quality of his voice has changed. It may also be due to his age, being in his 20s.
MatsudaAfter "Ryuki", both Suga and I experienced the stage, and of course we trained our voices. That broadened our range, but because of age, it didn't expand too much, but rather expanded more and more downwards. Because of that training, I think when I hear my old voice, I'm even more surprised and say, "That's high!"
SugaI thought so too. Moreover, Shinji at that time was a "popular" character, so it was a bit tough for me to become the Shinji of that time and voice him. Of course, I felt a strong sense of nostalgia, but it was also physically tough (laughs).
MatsudaI remember Shinji's voice at that time, shouting things like "Oi, Ron!" and "Ren!" I can't help but reminisce about the intense times I spent acting with all my heart, so when I heard the sample audio from back then, it really hit me.
SugaI know, I know. I remember him saying that line during that scene.
SugaAt the time, I heard from action director Miyazaki Tsuyoshi that Ryuki's pose was based on Kamen Rider No. 1, and Knight's was based on Kamen Rider No. 2.
MatsudaCome to think of it, I remember being told something like that. In the case of Knight, I was trying to create a beautiful line when pointing my arms forward.
SugaThe transformation pose for Ryuki is very simple, just extending your right arm. However, since the transformation is done by an adult, please be careful not to strain your shoulders. Please make sure to loosen your shoulder joints before transforming (laughs).
MatsudaIt's for adults, so please stretch and warm up your shoulders first (laughs).
SugaDon't get too excited (laughs). I think that's important. The sharpness of extending your arms while saying "Transform!" is also important, so don't use too much force!
SugaMany of the staff and actors I work with on set have told me that they watched "Ryuki" when they were kids, and it really makes me realise that the series was loved by so many people. I think it would be wonderful if such people continue to love "Ryuki" and pass it on to future generations. Everyone, please continue to love "MASKED RIDER RYUKI" along with this product!
MatsudaI think it's really amazing that 16 years have passed since the broadcast and they are able to release such a high-priced product for adults. I was able to really feel the power of the Kamen Rider series and the popularity of MASKED RIDER RYUKI, which other content cannot imitate. This is all thanks to the passion of the people who support Ryuki. All I can say is "gratitude". Thank you so much.
HaginoAt first glance, I thought it was well made. It seems to be more elaborately made than the real belt I was using at the time of the photo shoot.
OtaiThe size is exactly the same as a real belt, so it has a real feel. What impressed me about the product was the precision of the details around the waist.
HaginoI think you'll feel great satisfaction whether you display this piece in your room as part of your collection or actually wear it.
OtaiOnce the product is released, I'd love for you to bring it to an event or autograph session. I'll sign the back of the belt for you (laughs).
HaginoAll I can say is that the first thing to do is to "get into it"! You have no choice but to feel like "I'm KAMEN RIDER EX-AID" (a work available only to Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club members) of "Kamen Rider Ex-Aid," and "transformed" for the first time in 15 years, but it was so embarrassing (laughs). It's hard to transform unless you get used to it. Overcome that embarrassment and pose with a strong feeling of "I'm going to transform." Then you might be able to transform well.
OtaiMy advice is to "transform with all your might." No matter how hard you try, you can't transform into a Rider in "Ryuki" in one action. The series of actions of taking the transformation pose while looking forward and inserting the card deck into the buckle part must break the cut. The only person who was able to do this whole series without breaking the cut was Arthur Kuroda (Kamen Rider Verde, Itsuro Takamizawa, who appeared in the TV special "13 RIDERS") (laughs). So, with all your might, I want you to give it a go.
HaginoIt's exciting when you say "Transform!", load the card deck, and hear the same sound effects as on TV.
OtaiWhen you hear the sound of a monster approaching, it gives the impression that the drama is about to begin.
OtaiA line that is used as a catchphrase in many places is "I don't like these messy battles" in episode 4. This may be a representative line of Zolda. I also like what he said to Tojo (Kamen Rider Taiga) in episode 46, "Hey, you know, there's one condition you can never become a hero. Let me tell you. A hero is disqualified the moment he tries to become one. You're out straight away." Another line he says to Goro in the final episode, "By the way, the weather is bad today... I can't see Goro's face..." This also has a sad ring to it, which I like.
HaginoI like all of Asakura's lines. If I had to pick one, I'd say "It pisses me off... being in a place like this" in episode 17. "Is this the place for the festival?" in episode 40 is also memorable. "Why... why... why... why!" in the final episode is also great. This was the "last" line Asakura spoke in "Ryuki".
OtaiAsakura's lines "It's annoying me" and "Is this where the festival is" were so popular that PREMIUM BANDAI made T-shirts with the words on them (※). (※Currently out of stock)
HaginoThis time, not only the lines from the TV series, but also the specials and The Movie were recorded. When I was recording, I thought "What is this?" when he shouted "We are Kamen Rider!" in a very heroic, righteous manner. This was a line from the "Terebi-kun" (Shogakukan) video given to everyone. Oja's personality is completely different from that of the TV series.
OtaiZolda and Ouja are Ryuki's friends! They join forces and fight. When I was recording this, Director Suzumura (Nobuhiro) told me, "Forget everything you've done (on TV) up until now" (laughs).
HaginoIt was a character change that was unique to this special episode. If you don't forget about the TV show, you can't say lines like that (laughs).
HaginoSince "Ryuki" ended, I have recorded the voice of Asakura = Ouja several times for toys and games, but for this product, I listened to the "audio from when it was broadcast" in advance and tried to make the voice as close as possible to that. Since I was "particular" about recreating the voice from back then, this is the closest to the original voice I have ever recorded. The product is of high quality, but the quality of the voice is also the best. It's true, as he himself says it. Everyone, please look forward to it!
OtaiI think many of the people who buy this product will have fond memories of the series "MASKED RIDER RYUKI." Recording the voice for this time also brought back fond memories for me. It's a very enthusiastic product, and it's quite expensive. I think it's great that the sender has a "no pandering" stance, that only people who want to buy memories of those times will buy it. I hope you will enjoy the product as a part of your memories.
