This is the first in the "ORIART" series of collectible stickers woven using Echizen weaving, a traditional weaving technique from Fukui Prefecture.
The lineup consists of eight types, selected from the most popular characters in the 2023 Sanrio character Awards. The open packaging allows you to choose your favorite character. You can simply display it by placing it inside your smartphone case, or since the back is a sticker, you can enjoy sticking it on mobile devices, stationery, or interior items. ■What is “ORIART”? This collection sticker features "Echizen weaving", a traditional weaving technique from Fukui Prefecture, and features the expression of "fine patterns" and "letters" that are difficult to embroider. In order to weave many threads into a fixed frame, it is necessary to have "thin", "strong" and "advanced techniques to weave them at high density". This product was produced in collaboration with Matsukawa Repian Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1925 and inherits the various techniques and traditions of "Echizen weaving", using the weaving technique "high density weaving" that the company possesses. "ORIART" is entirely woven with such "Echizen weaving" and "high density weaving", making it possible to express delicate patterns and letters that are difficult to embroider. The vivid colors bring out 100% of the charm of the characters. ■What is Echizen weaving? Echizen-ori is a fabric characterized by its fine texture and handed down in Maruoka-cho, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, the town that boasts the top share of woven labels (brand tags) production in the country and is the number one producer of woven labels in Japan. Using the techniques cultivated in woven labels, people, flowers, and colorful, complex pictures and designs can be reproduced in textiles. Not only is it used for brand tags, but the techniques used are also appreciated by shrines across the country, and the fabric is also used for colorful amulet bags and other items.
